Round and round the Garden Project

Here are some sample pages in my sketchbook, showing my development in my space themed project.

Maureen My Ngoc

Recent London College of Fashion graduate Maureen My Ngoc created a collection of highly conceptual jewellery and fashion accessories. She created three-dimensional patterns using origami techniques that made the pieces fluid and flexible on the body. I love the structure and dimension in the collection as well as the simple lack of colour and materials.

Sabine Ducasse

Sabine Ducasse

Shanghai-based artist Sabine Ducasse takes fashion to a new level with clothing and accessory designs using Perler beads melted together to form a bond. Called Melting Pot, the collection looks like something Lady Gaga would wear in a video game.

Reactions

For my project my theme is space/solar system. Here I've looked at reactions and tried to recreate a reaction similar to what would happen on planets by mixing oil with water.

Countryside Alliance

Countryside Alliance- Autumn/ Winter 2012-2013

It's felt like Autumn/Winter for months already in England !!!

Ralph Lauren has created a beautiful collection which shows a tailored boyish look. I really like how he had mixed together different textures and materials together such as tartan, fur, wool, cotton and leather.

Chesterfield College Art and Design exhibition

Chesterfield College Art and Design exhibition

Every year chesterfield college put on an art and design exhibition displaying the work of second year and foundation art and design students. It shows everything from fashion , textiles, illustration, graphics, fine art, applied arts and photography .

Here is what the main exhibition from above
I really like the tie dye colours in the garment
I like the use of different materials in this garment
I liked how both these garments (above and below) have distressed unfinished hems and edges

This is my favourite piece from the exhibition, I really liked all the different textures, colours and patterns , I also think that the concept is very unusual and nothing that I've seen before.

Loughborough University

Loughborough University Art and Design exhibition

As part of unit 10 I visited Loughborough University with college. We were able to look round the campus and visit the art and design exhibition. I really enjoyed looking round and seeing other students work. I particularly liked textiles: Innervations and Design, I really all the different prints and designs. However I feel that the university was a bit out on the limb and secluded and maybe not for me in that aspect. Loughborough is famously known for its sporting achievements and  is a campus university.

Here is some pictures of work that I liked when looking round the art and design exhibition.

I like how symmetry is used in this painting to create a pattern

I think the pattern on this garments are stunning
I like how they have taken a small pattern design and repeated it (pattern repeat) to create a wall paper.
